Climate Change Policy

The City and County of Honolulu has made a number of commitments towards achieving a more sustainable future. New policies set by the Honolulu City Council and the Hawai‘i State Legislature help ensure we achieve our established targets, like a zero emissions clean economy no later than 2045.

Mayor Blangiardi joined Governor Josh Green and local students on Earth Day 2023 to sign the Pledge to Our Keiki, a commitment to protect our island home for future generations.

Climate-Related City Policies

New City laws, or Ordinances, start with the creation and passage of a bill by the City Council.

Resolutions express the City Council’s opinion or request action by the City Administration or State Government.
